AAA: Holiday Travel Up 4.8% in Region

PITTSBURGH -- Nearly 16.04 million people in the East North Central Region of the AAA will travel 50 miles or more to reach their year-end holiday destinations, AAA's travel office projected Wednesday. This is an increase of 4.8% from the 15.16 million people who traveled in the same region last year.
The East North Central Region encompasses Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
Competitors Announced for ‘Slice of the Valley’

WARREN, Ohio -- Seventeen area pizza shops will compete for bragging rights at the “Slice of the Valley’ competition Jan. 17 at the Eastwood Expo Center in Niles. Proceeds will be used for improvements at Warren Interfaith Park on the city's southeast side.
Those attending the pizza challenge will vote on the People’s Choice Award while celebrity judges will decide the Judge’s Choice award.
Brentwood Mobile Manor Auctioned for $610,500

WARREN, Ohio -- An investor from Columbus was the successful bidder Saturday for the Brentwood Mobile Manor, 4044 Evaline St. SE, Jeff Byce announced Monday.
Winning bid was $555,000. With the 10% buyer’s premium, the price came to $610,500. Byce is the broker and auctioneer at ByceRealty, Youngstown.
Lawrence County United Way Reaches 50% of Goal

NEW CASTLE, Pa. – The United Way of Lawrence County reports it has reached half of its $435,000 campaign goal. The United Way chapter raises funds for 19 nonprofit agencies that provide more than 50 programs in the area.
The public affairs division, headed by Janice Dougherty, reported $8,071 for the division, which includes the county courthouse and nonprofit agencies. The professional division, headed by Amy Plyler, Dr. Joe Ross and Jason Medure, reported $6906 which included local attorney’s dentists, physicians and other professionals.
Celebrity Video Highlights Visitors Bureau’s Website

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Mahoning County Convention and Visitors Bureau today launched its newly redesigned website, YoungtownLive.com, which features a video starring actor and city native Ed O’Neill.
Others featured on the video include Jim and Ellen Tressel, Ray Mancini and fashion designer Nanette Lepore (CLICK HERE).
