In the Buckeye State, three-fifths of the oldest baby boomers ages 55 to 64 are expected to remain on their jobs in 2010, the Ohio Department of Jobs & Family Services has estimated.Because of physical changes, older workers are at a greater risk of injuries and may require a longer recovery time, said Joel Donchess, chief of injury management at the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation.

Tuesday, August 31, 2004HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Pittsburgh Brewing Co.'s Aug. 24 shipment 20,000 cases of Iron City Lager to distribution centers in 30 states came with a new look: a sleek aluminum bottle that was developed and is manufactured at the CCL Container plant here. The shipment marked the first major launch of a beer packaged in aluminum bottles, according to a news release from CCL.The initial units sold out in less than 24 hours, and as news of the new product circulated the following day, a picture of the shiny Iron City aluminum bottle was the "most viewed photo" on Yahoo!
Columbiana County Residents May Qualify for Financial Help
Tuesday, August 31, 2004COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Columbiana County residents who are victims of the recent floods and severe weather may be eligible for up to $1,500 in disaster assistance through the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, Gov. Bob Taft announced today. "Funding is available immediately to help families as they recover from flooding and severe weather," Taft said.On Aug. 28, in the aftermath of the severe weather that begin the previous day, the governor declared the county to be in a state of emergency.
USWA to RMI: We'll Keep Up the Fight
Tuesday, August 31, 2004NILES, Ohio -- Members of United Steelworkers of America Locals 2155 and 2155-7 rejected the latest concession-laden contract proposal from RMI Titanium by a margin of 59% to 41% in a secret-ballot election conducted yesterday, according to a USWA report. About 360 workers at the titanium plant have been locked-out since Oct. 26, 2003, after they rejected a previous proposal that included over $3 million in concessions, the report said.RMI Titanium is a wholly-owned subsidiary of RTI International Metals Inc.The local union negotiating committee held an explanation meeting on Aug.

$250,000 Will Help Airport Reach for the Sky"
Tuesday, August 31, 2004WASHINGTON -- A $250,000 grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation will be used to help market the Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport and attract new passenger service, reported U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan (D-17, Ohio). Youngstown, Ryan said, was one of more than 100 applicants to submit a proposal and one of only 46 to receive an award. Mahoning and Trumbull Counties are contributing a local match of $25,000 to the marketing program and the Western Reserve Port Authority will contribute $10,000.
Federal Complaint Filed Against Simon Property Group
Tuesday, August 31, 2004GREENWICH, Conn. -- Simon Property Group, owner of Southern Park Mall, Boardman, violated federal and Nevada racketeering statutes and Nevada securities laws, alleges a lawsuit filed against the Indianapolis-based company by G.K. Las Vegas Limited Partnership. The lawsuit also alleges that Simon breached its contractual and statutory fiduciary duties under a joint venture agreement with G.K.The Forum Shops retail mall -- adjacent to Caesars Palace in Las Vegas -- is America's best-performing shopping center, with average annual sales in excess of $1,300 per square foot, GKLV officials said.
