Thursday, August 21, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- DiRusso’s Real Italian Sausage Concessions, now in its 50th year, will celebrate 50 years of selling its sausage sandwiches at the Canfield Fair when the popular annual event returns next week.
DiRusso’s Sausage has been a favorite of fairgoers since 1964 when Augustine “Augie” DiRusso started his concession business. His mother, Adeline DiRusso, was the originator of DiRusso’s sausage recipe.
White House Task Force Rep to Hold YSU Roundtable

WRPA Expects to Hire Executive Director Soon
Thursday, August 21, 2014VIENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- The chairman of the Western Reserve Port Authority’s board of directors says he anticipates meeting in the next few weeks to hire an interim executive director.
The port authority board took no action on the vacancy during its meeting Wednesday, the bulk of which was spent in a pair of executive sessions to discuss personnel issues.
“Everyone wants it to be done as soon as possible,” and a meeting to hire for the post ideally will be held in the next two to three weeks, said Ron Klingle, port authority chairman.
Mobile Banking Gains in Popularity, ABA Finds
Thursday, August 21, 2014WASHINGTON -- Mobile banking -- using a tablet, Blackberry, personal digital assistant (PDA) or cell phone to manage one’s bank accounts -- is gaining momentum although Americans still prefer the Internet, the American Bankers Association said Wednesday.
Use of mobile devices has grown to 10% today from 8% in 2013, the ABA said of the survey of 1,000 adults conducted in its behalf by Ipsos Public Affairs, an independent market research firm.

Foreclosure, Delinquency Rates Drop in June
Thursday, August 21, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Foreclosure rates in Youngstown-Warren-Boardman decreased for the month of June over the same period last year, according to newly released data from CoreLogic, Irvine, Calif.
The CoreLogic data reveals that the rate of Youngstown-Warren-Boardman area foreclosures among outstanding mortgage loans was 2.44% for the month of June 2014, a decrease of 1.15 percentage points compared to June o2013 when the rate was 3.59%.
Foreclosure activity in Youngstown-Warren-Boardman still remained higher than the national foreclosure rate, which was 1.70% for June.
Best of Ashtabula County Finalists Announced
Thursday, August 21, 2014ASHTABULA, Ohio -- The Growth Partnership for Ashtabula County will host the 26th Annual Best of the County Awards at 5 p.m. Sept. 16 at the Sprire Institute in Geneva.
The event will recognize finalists in five categories and one winner of the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Businesses were nominated and evaluated based on criteria such as employment growth, capital investment, product development, system/process innovation and overall economic impact.

Panera Bread to Open 2nd Boardman Cafe
Thursday, August 21, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio – Covelli Enterprises will mark the opening of its second Panera Bread Bakery-Café in the township next week, with one promotion benefitting the United Way of Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley.
Covelli Enterprises, headquartered in Warren, is Panera's largest franchisee, with more than 250 cafes in the United States and Canada. Covelli opened its first Panera in Boardman in 1997.
Like the Panera café in Niles, the new café, 7685 Market St. in the Southwoods Commons development, will feature a drive-thru window.
