Pending Home Sales Climb Most in Midwest
Wednesday, December 05, 2012WASHINGTON -- Pending home sales rose strongly in October but some regions fared better than others, the National Association of Realtors’ index shows. The rise was highest in the Midwest where the Realtors' Pending Home Sales Index jumped 15.6% to 104.4 in October, 20% above October 2011.
The overall index, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, rose 5.2% to 104.8 in October from an upwardly revised 99.6 in September and is 13.2% above October 2011 when it sttod at 92.6. The data reflect contracts but not closings.
PNC Calls Temporary, Holiday Halt to Evictions
Wednesday, December 05, 2012PITTSBURGH -- The PNC Financial Services Group Inc. will temporarily suspend evictions nationwide on foreclosed occupied houses where PNC holds the mortgage. The suspension period runs from Dec. 17 to Jan. 2, 2013.
"We hope this suspension provides families who are experiencing financial hardship some stability over the holiday season," said Saiyid Naqvi, CEO of PNC Mortgage.
The PNC Financial Services Group Inc. is one of the largest providers of diversified financial services in the United States.

Design Review Committee OKs Sugar Plum Facade
Wednesday, December 05, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Work is expected to get under way soon on the façade of the former Two Guys Clothing store building on West Federal Street, where Iron and String Life Enhancement Inc. plans to open a luncheonette and bakery next year.
The city’s Design Review Committee approved the plans for the exterior work, prepared by Paul Hagman, project manager with Faniro Architects Inc., Youngstown. Hagman presented the plans at the committee’s meeting Tuesday morning.
Paramount Proponents Urge Use Beyond Parking

“If it’s going to be an open parking lot, it really ruins the streetscape,” said Anita Lin, who was part of the group that supported preserving the Paramount’s façade and redeveloping part of the site as a space for performing arts and public events.
Ohio Star Forge Seeks Tax Breaks to Fund Expansion

Ohio Star Forge is looking to purchase new machinery, inventory and add another 30,000 square-feet to its operations on Mahoning Avenue, reports Mark Zigmont of the Trumbull County Planning Commission.
Ergon to Spend $78M to Expand Newell Refinery
Tuesday, December 04, 2012NEWELL, W.Va. – Ergon Inc. says it plans to invest upwards of $78 million to expand is refinery here. The facility, Ergon-West Virginia, sits on land that borders the Ohio River across from East Liverpool and the Wellsville Intermodal Park on the Ohio side.
The expansion will add capacity in the refinery's processing units and infrastructure so the refinery can handle growing regional crude oil production throughout the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
Two Girls Clothing Store Opens Downtown

The owners of the men's clothing store at 20 Federal Place hosted a grand opening Monday for their second boutique, Two Girls Clothing, in the concourse.
"We've had a lot of success with Two Guys Clothing, and we decided now's the time [to open another store], said Dan Mitchell.
Regional Chamber Wins Award for YOUNG 2011
