Farmers Prepared to Grow Despite Shareholders' Vote
Friday, April 26, 2013CANFIELD, Ohio -- Just as they did last year, a two-thirds majority of the voting shareholders of Farmers National Banc Corp. are amendable to amending the articles of incorporation of Farmers National Banc Corp. that would allow the elimination of pre-emptive rights.
Indeed, of the nearly 15 million shares voted this year, almost 84% voted yes, the president and CEO of Farmers, John S. Gulas announced at the annual meeting Thursday at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center.

BWC Panel Recommends 2.1% Base-Rate Reduction
Friday, April 26, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Private employers in the state could see a $29 million reduction in premiums for the July 1, 2014, policy year if a proposal made Thursday is approved by BWC’s board of directors next month.
BWC proposed a 2.1% base-rate reduction for private employers at the board of directors’ actuarial committee Thursday. If approved, it would be the third year in a row that workers’ compensation insurance rates have remained steady or dropped.

Extrudex Aluminum Disputes OSHA Safety Violations
Friday, April 26, 2013NORTH JACKSON, Ohio -- Extrudex Aluminum Inc. says it disagrees with the U.S. Deparatment of Labor's Occupational Safety and Health Administration, which filed eight safety violations against the company in connection with the accidental death Oct. 30 of one of its employees (READ STORY). The alleged safety violations resulted in a proposed fine of $175,000.00, which the company disputes in total.

Thiel Estate Gift to Fund Full-Tuition Scholarships
Friday, April 26, 2013GREENVILLE, Pa. -- David E. Baughman, a Greenville native and lifelong resident, bequeathed $3.7 million to Thiel College, the college announced Thursday. The gift, the second-largest estate gift in Thiel history, will fund the Emerson A. Baughman, Agnes F. Baughman and David E. Baughman Endowed Scholarship that bestows full-tuition scholarships each year to for students from the Greenville, Reynolds, Commodore Perry and Jamestown school districts in Mercer County, Pa.
Baughman died last Nov. 8.
Youngstown Foundation Distributes $1.7M to Agencies

This includes contributions of $250,000 from the Support Fund that gives participating nonprofits an opportunity to earn an extra 5% in donations of $100 or more.
J.D. Power Ranks Huntington Tops in Survey

More than 50,000 customers of banks across the United States participated in the survey, In the Midwest -- essentially the North Central Region and the footprint of Huntington Bank --– Huntington received the highest score of the 25 largest banks in the region.
