$65.5B Spent in 2011 to Drill 10,173 U.S. Shale Wells
Tuesday, April 30, 2013WASHINGTON -- An estimated $65.5 billion was invested to drill an estimated 10,173 U.S. shale oil and natural gas wells in 2011, according to a study, the “2011 Joint Association Survey on Drilling Costs,” released Monday by the American Petroleum Institute. The investment number represents an 87.6% increase in shale drilling expenditures from 2010 levels and more than half of an estimated $124.8 billion spent on all new wells drilled in 2011. The number of estimated shale wells drilled in 2011 is 43.8% more than in 2010.

By mid-morning, the number of job-seekers had grown to 800, all looking for opportunities in the oil and gas industry as the Mahoning Valley Energy Jobs Fair swung into full gear.
"I have a company that wants to interview me next week," says Kendrick Ertley, who will graduate in two weeks from the University of Akron with a degree in mapping. "I'm looking for a GIS position."

CHS Reports $3.3B in First Quarter Revenues
Tuesday, April 30, 2013FRANKLIN, Tenn. -- Net operating revenues for Community Health Systems Inc. during the first quarter of the year were up slightly from a year earlier, the company reported Monday.
CHS owns ValleyCare Health System of Ohio, which operates Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren and Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital in Howland. CHS purchased those three hospitals and other assets of bankrupt Forum Health in 2010. Overall it owns, leases or operates 135 hospitals in 29 states.
1st Banc Reports Q1 Net Income of $250,591
Tuesday, April 30, 2013EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- Tri-State 1st Banc Inc., holding company of 1st National Community Bank, reports first-quarter net income $250,591, an 18.4% increase from the $211,721 reported a year ago.
The company improved upon the income of the previous year’s quarter, executives said, while continuing to have “less than optimal” loan demand. Despite weaker loan demand, gross loans increased $822,000 since March 31, 2012. Despite the increase in loans, income from loans has fallen by about $34,000 year to date.
Pending Home Sales in Ohio Climb in March
Tuesday, April 30, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The number of single-family houses and condominiums put under agreement in Ohio in March rose for the 23rd consecutive month, the Ohio Association of Realtors announced Monday.
The Realtors’ Pending Home Sales Index of 134.6, a forward-looking indicator based on contract signings, rose 10.8% from the March 2012 index of 121.4.
U.S. Chamber Gives Ohio, Pa. Mediocre Ratings
