Halcon Gets Permit for New Trumbull County Utica Well
Thursday, June 20, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Halcon Operating Co. Inc. plans to drill a new horizontal well in Trumbull County, according to data provided by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
Halcon, based in Houston, wants to drill in Warren Township at the Lutz property, and was awarded a permit for the work June 10. It's the fifth well Halcon has permitted in the Mahoning Valley.
The company has four wells permitted for Trumbull County and one in Mahoning County, records show.
There were no new permits issued last week for either Mahoning or Columbiana counties, records show.
Hagan Seeks Severance Tax on Horizontal Drilling
Thursday, June 20, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio would enact a 7.5% severance tax on oil, natural gas and condensate extracted from horizontal drilling under a proposal introduced by state Rep. Robert F. Hagan.
Hagan, D-58 Youngstown, announced his plan Wednesday to capitalize on the boom in horizontal shale drilling by using an updated severance tax model to invest in communities through resources for public education, infrastructure and community services.
