Domestic Demand for Stainless Steel Climbs
Monday, May 10, 2004WASHINGTON -- Data released Friday by the Specialty Steel Industry of North America reflect a year-on-year increase in stainless steel consumption in the United States and a slight decrease in overall import penetration over the previous year, with one particular product line showing a significant hike. Stainless steel plate consumption shot up 31% to 47,471 tons in year-to-date February 2004.
Ohio EPA Reaches Settlement with YSD Industries
Monday, May 10, 2004COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency has reached a settlement with YSD Industries Inc. for violating air pollution control regulations at its manufacturing and fabricating business located at 3710 Hendricks Road, Austintown. The company agreed to pay a $10,000 civil penalty. YSD Industries manufactures railcar doors and sides and fabricates material-handling equipment. The operation includes cleaning and coating equipment and a paint dip tank to coat railroad car parts.
Carb Counting Craze Kicks Krispy Kreme

MTR Gaming Reports Increase in First Quarter Revenue
Friday, May 07, 2004CHESTER, W. Va. -- MTR Gaming Group Inc. today announced revenues were up 19% in the first quarter ended March 31 compared to the 2003 period. Total revenues increased to $75.7 million compared to $63.6 million for the first quarter of 2003. EBITDA, or earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization, grew at a faster rate, by 21%, to $13.1 million compared to $10.9 million in the first quarter of 2003, the company reported.
Penn State Shenango to Undergo $6 Million Renovation
Friday, May 07, 2004SHARON, Pa. -- Penn State Shenango will begin a $6 million dollar renovation project this summer to provide a new student activity center and an official entrance for the campus. The renovation gives special attention to preserving the historic heritage of the exterior of the two buildings affected, Sharon Hall and Lecture Hall, campus officials say.The 22-month phased project will feature both exterior and interior renovation. The exterior segment of the project began April 1 with landscaping of the campus grounds and continues through the following July.
