YSU Engineering Team Wins Regional Competition
YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A team of engineering students from Youngstown State University placed first in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Region 2 robotics contest at Cleveland State University. The team beat out schools from throughout Ohio, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, southern New Jersey, Washington, D.C., northern Virginia, Maryland and Delaware. "My team and I are very proud of this accomplishment," says Mitchell L. Dolenic of Berlin Center, Ohio, a YSU senior electrical and computer engineering student and captain of the YSU team.During the competition, two robots from opposing teams go head-to-head in a small arena, trying to attain the most points as fast as possible. Robots gain points by collecting steel balls and placing them in a ball depository on opposite sides of the arena.Other members of the winning team, all of whom are senior electrical and computer engineering seniors, are Robert Misevski of Erie, Pa.; Eric Montgomery of North Jackson, Ohio; and Kristin Wyand of Howland Township, Ohio. The competition was the students' capstone senior design project. Last year, a group of YSU students placed second.Visit Youngstown State University: www.ysu.edu"
