Friday, May 07, 2004NEW YORK -- The decline in manufacturing jobs in the United States and other major nations shows no signs of slowing, a comprehensive new study released yesterday by The Conference Board finds.The study says that in good times and bad in the United States, at least 16 million jobs are created or destroyed each year -- 14% of all U.S. employment.Domestic manufacturing jobs were particularly hard hit in the most recent recession, dropping 7.8% -- a decline more than three times greater than the 2.2% decrease in the two years following the recession of 1990-1991.

Employers will not have this opportunity again until the spring of 2006."The relationship between an employer and an MCO is an important component of managing a workplace injury," said James Conrad, BWC administrator.

Bush over the last six years, according to a Center for Public Integrity study comparing the donations of all registered lobbyists from 1998 through March 2004. Sen. John Kerry received $520,000 from 442 lobbyists during the same period. Such numbers account for a significant percentage of those who ply the influence game.

Tri-State 1st Banc Reports Earnings Up 11.3%
Friday, May 07, 2004East Liverpool, Ohio -- Tri-State 1st Banc Inc., parent company of 1st National Community Bank and Gateminder Co., reports net income for the first quarter ended March 31 of $154,000 or $0.17 per share, up 11.3% or $16,000 from the same period in 2003. On a per share basis, net income was up $0.02 per share or 13.3%.Total assets for the quarter increased by $3.8 million to $93.2 million, a 4.2% increase from Dec. 31, said Kevin Anglemyer, chief financial officer. Total deposits were up by $1.5 million or 2.0% to $72.8 million.
