Ohio Recognizes YSU as Healthful Work Site
Monday, March 17, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University has been recognized with a Healthy Worksite Award by the Ohio Department of Health. This is the third consecutive year YSU has earned such as award.
For 2013, YSU earned the Silver Award, up from the Bronze awards it received in 2011 and 2012. YSU won the honor in the Large Business category. In all, 40 awards were presented to the 96 that applied. The Ohio State University was the only other university to receive an award, a Bronze.
Seminar on Fundraising Planning at KSU-Trumbull Wednesday
Monday, March 17, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- An “Overview of Fundraising Planning” seminar will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday in the Technology Building at the Trumbull Campus of Kent State University. The two-hour session is sponsored by The Raymond John Wean Foundation.
This session provides a strategic overview of the components needed to ensure that organizations reach their fundraising potential from start to finish, officials said. Participants will learn how to conduct an asset inventory, identify a diverse funding stream, chart a fundraising calendar, among other topics.

Friday, March 14, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Bruce Zoldan could have sold his Youngstown Phantoms franchise for $1.5 million to investors who wanted to move the team to Phoenix, he says, or to a second group that also wanted to take the team out of town, or to a third prospective buyer who promised to keep the team here.
Instead, “I decided to make my deal” with retired National Hockey League player Troy Loney and his wife Aafke. “That’s all I’m going to say” when asked to describe the financial terms of the transaction.

Female Business Owners Optimistic About Economy
Friday, March 14, 2014WASHINGTON -- Fully 87% of female business owners are optimistic about economic outlook of their businesses this year, a 12% increase over 2013. When asked about their biggest near-term concerns over the next six months, the top issue – cited by 90% – is gaining new customers
The 2014 State of Women-Owned Businesses Report, commissioned by the National Association of Women Business Owners and Web.com Group Inc., also shows that while the economy is the top concern of 90% of respondents, 89% are also optimistic about how well their busnesses will do this year.
