Drilling Halted After Quakes Near Hilcorp Wells
Tuesday, March 11, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources has halted drilling at Hilcorp's well pad at the Carbon Limestone Landfill in Poland Township. The action, taken Monday afternoon, follows a series of earthquakes Monday morning all of which had epicenters close to the well pad.
The National Earthquake Information Center of the U.S. Geological Survey places the epicenter of a 3.0-magnitude earthquake that took place early at 2:26 a.m. near where Hilcorp Energy Co. is drilling 12 Utica wells in Poland Township, according to the agency's website.
Marshall Fund Panel Focuses on Downtown Revitalization

The two-day workshop is being held at the Covelli Centre by the German Marshall Fund of the United States in support of the federal Strong Cities, Strong Communities Initiative.

Cohasset Express Is New Way to See Mill Creek Park
Tuesday, March 11, 2014CANFIELD, Ohio -- After some eight months spent refurbishing the vehicle, Mill Creek MetroParks presented its trolley, the Cohasset Express, to the press Monday afternoon.
Its first two tours, scheduled for March 15, are sold out, reported marketing manager Leslie Cusano. Spaces remain for the thre tours scheduled for April, inclucing on Earth Day, April 22.
Still being planned is a tour of the landscaping of Mill Creek Park, called “Parkitecture,” to be conducted by planning director Justin Rogers.
Penn National Reaches Agreement with Horsemen
Tuesday, March 11, 2014WYOMISSING, Pa. -- Penn National Gaming Inc. has signed an agreement with the Ohio Horsemen’s Benevolent and Protective Association that covers all aspects of thoroughbred racing at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course under construction in Austintown, Ohio.
The signing formalizes an agreement first outlined by Penn National and the OHBPA at the February meeting of the Ohio State Racing Commission -- an agreement the commission characterized in a press release as “positive progress.”

Salem Chamber Hosts Business Startup Workshop March 20

Hilcorp Responds to Two Earthquakes Near Its Wells
Monday, March 10, 2014POLAND, Ohio -- Hilcorp Energy Co. issued a statement late Monday afternoon reporting that is "working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources "to investigate multiple seismic events overnight. Early indications are the epicenter of one of these events was near Hilcorp wells in the Carbon Limestone Landfill in Poland, Ohio," the company said.
