MTR Gaming Reports $7.1 Million Net Loss for 4th Quarter
Wednesday, March 19, 2014CHESTER, W.Va. -- MTR Gaming Group Inc. reports a fourth-quarter net loss of $7.1 million, or 25 cents per share, on net revenues of $114.8 million. This compares with a net loss of $5.5 million, or 20 cents per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of 2012.
Kasich, GOP Leaders OK $1.5 Million for YBI

CCPA Seeks Funds to Double Intermodal Crane Capacity
Tuesday, March 18, 2014EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The 60-ton overhead crane at the Wellsville Intermodal Facility is close to running at capacity, the CEO of the Columbiana County Port Authority, Tracy Drake, informed his board Monday night.
“Our crane is so successful that we’re running two shifts,” he reported, and the authority is considering hiring a third.
Council to Consider Loan for $16.5M Wick Project
Tuesday, March 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- City Council is poised to approve a $2 million float loan and a $500,000 water/wastewater grant for the $16.5 million Wick Building renovation project.
The term of the float loan will be 12 months at a quarter-percent interest, based on the developer, Wick Properties LLC, providing an irrevocable letter of credit. The loan and grant are in a development agreement council members are expected to vote on when it holds its regularly scheduled meeting tomorrow night.

Butler Art Musuem Acquires Works by Realist Peter Maier
Tuesday, March 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Butler Institute of American Art has acquired two "monumental works" by photo-realist painter Peter Maier, reports Louis A. Zona, its executive director and chief curator.
The paintings are titled “Horse-Power (Ben)” and “Madison Avenue at Speed.” “Horse-Power (Ben)” is a 9 x 11.5 foot masterwork first exhibited at the Butler in September 2013.
'Ready for Hillary' to Stage Event in Niles

The event, in support of a potential 2016 presidential candidacy for Hillary Clinton, is being hosted by David Betras, chairman of the Mahoning County Democratic Party; Kathy DiCristofaro, chairwoman of the Ohio Democratic Party’s women’s caucus; and U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Howland. The event will run from 4-6 p.m.
