Columbiana Port Authority Reapplies for Internet Grant
Tuesday, April 22, 2014EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio -- The Columbiana County Port Authority took a first step for a second time Monday in seeking $100,000 for a study “to examine the feasibility, collaboration and operation of a new wireless system,” that is, provide the majority of county residents with access to the Internet.
Where before the port authority sought to conduct such a feasibility study on its own, it is doing so in concert with the city of East Liverpool and the village of Wellsville.

Ford Nature Center Sets Fundraising Event
Tuesday, April 22, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ford Nature Center will undergo a major renovation and Mill Creek MetroParks is holding a fundraiser June 27 to help finance the restoration.
The fundraiser, sponsored by Youngstown Propane and Covelli Enterprises, will offer craft beer tastings, barbeque, the blues played by The River Saints and tours of the building.

National Bancshares Has Record First-Quarter Income
Monday, April 21, 2014ORRVILLE, Ohio – National Bancshares Corp., parent of First National Bank of Orrville, today reported record first-quarter net income of $1.24 million, or 56 cents a share.
This compares to $946,000, or 43 cents a share, the first quarter of 2013. Diluted earnings per share were 55 cents and 43 cents respectively.
