Republic Steel Agrees to $2.4M OSHA Settlement

Workers' Comp MCO Open Enrollment Begins Today
Monday, April 28, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Beginning at 7:30 a.m. today, Ohio employers have the opportunity to select a new managed care organization to manage health-care services for workers injured on the job. Senate Panel Trims Funds for Manufacturing Hubs
Monday, April 28, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Legislation that would fund the ambitious National Network for Manufacturing Innovation program proposed by President Barack Obama is today much thinner than its original, beefed-up form.
The Revitalize American Manufacturing and Innovation Act, or RAMI, a bipartisan bill co-written by U.S. Sens. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, and Roy Blunt, R-Mo., sought $600 million over 10 years to help fund advanced manufacturing hubs across the country.
The first of these hubs is America Makes, the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute in Youngstown.

Legacy, a Texas company formerly known as J-W Measurement Co., announced in November it would open a manufacturing plant here to service its current and potential customer base in the Marcellus and Utica shale oil and gas plays. The company is seeking welders, assemblers, painters and material handlers.
Drilling Industry Uses Product Created by YBI's Accupoint
Monday, April 28, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- In 2006, an explosion sank the Deepwater Horizon oil rig, claiming 11 lives. What became known as the BP spill was the largest marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry.
The founder of Accupoint Software, Jeff Cianciola, says had his software been available at the time, the Deepwater accident likely would not have happened. Accupoint, a Youngstown Business Incubator portfolio company, has developed an online solution to help companies comply with new regulations that grew out of the disaster.
Complaints about Auto Dealers No. 1 at BBB
Monday, April 28, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Auto dealers topped the list of the industries most complained about by consumers on the Better Business Bureau’s website over a two-month period, the agency reports.
From February 1 to April 1, the other industries most complained about by consumers were windows, online retailers, door-to-door magazine sales and used auto dealers.

Health Care Education Group to Hold Expo May 22
Monday, April 28, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- More than 30 health-care vendors who offer screenings at the Mahoning Valley Healthcare Education Collaborative’s inaugural Mahoning Valley Health Expo from 10a.m.to 3 p.m. May 22 at Antone's Banquet Center.
The screenings, open to the public, will be for for blood pressure, glucose levels, pulse rates, hearing among others.
