Stambaugh Youth Band Gets Grant from PNC

The ensemble will perform its first concert Dec. 3.

More Young Adults Renting or Living with Parents
Monday, August 27, 2012CLEVELAND – Younger adults increasingly are renting their housing or living with their parents rather than buying a residence, a report from the Cleveland Federal Reserve Bank says.
This trend began before the Great Recession but those economic hard times intensified it, the author, Timothy Dunne, found in “Household Formation and the Great Recession” released last week.
In fact, during the recession, the number of households fell in part because of the substantial number of number of households that combined,” Dunne found.
June Foreclosure Rate Down in Region
Monday, August 27, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The foreclosure rate in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman Ohio-Pennsylvania metropolitan statistical area was down in June compared to a year earlier, although the rate of delinquencies more than 90 days increased over the period, CoreLogic reports.
The foreclosure rate was 4.47% in June, down from 4.72% in June 2011. The local rate was higher than the Ohio rate of 3.25% and the U.S. rate of 3.27%. The June 2011 foreclosure rate was 3.44% in Ohio and 3.48% nationwide.

August Vehicle Sales Strong in U.S.

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. -- The August new-vehicle selling rate is expected to be the highest monthly rate in more than four and one-half years. New-vehicle retail sales are projected to come in at 1,066,200 units for the month, but outlook shows drops to come.
The August figure represents a seasonally adjusted annualized rate of 12.3 million units. The year-over-year growth rate in retail sales continues a double-digit trend for a fourth consecutive month, according to a report from J.D. Power and Associates.

Monday, August 27, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Democrats' denounciations of Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted’s scheduled appearance at a statewide summit for a group accused of voter intimidation tactics aimed at minority voters may have convinced Husted to change his mind.
Husted had been among the speakers scheduled at Saturday’s True the Vote summit in Worthington. That morning, True the Vote issued a news release announcing that Husted was no longer in the lineup of speakers and was replaced by state Sen. Bill Seitz, R-8 Green Township.
