City Approves Phase II Cleanup of Sherman Property
Friday, August 31, 2012OUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city Board of Control Thursday approved a contract not to exceed $229,000 for Brownfield Restoration Group to begin Phase II environmental testing on the former Youngstown Sheet & Tube property off Wilson Avenue.
Chuck Shasho, deputy director of public works, added the item at the meeting and said the measure calls for Brownfield Restoration to take soil samples and place monitoring wells to assess the level of contamination at the 71-acre site.

The new executive director will oversee the planning, design and implementation of efforts to help underserved populations of students and their families in the pursuit of post-secondary education. An emphasis will be placed on working with students in Warren and Youngstown, said program director Paul Dutton.
Under 18? Drivers Banned from Using Mobile Devices

This means no texting, emailing, cellular phone calls, video games, iPad/tablet or use of a handheld GPS while driving, even when sitting at a light or stuck in a traffic jam.
There is a six-month period during which law enforcement officers will issue warnings but not citations, Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles officials say. After March 1, enforcement begins.

Wellsville Terminal Project Now Complete

In a statement issued Wednesday, the Columbiana County Port Authority said the project "will expand the capability of the facility at Ohio's largest river port and provide the state with additional international cargo access to Gulf of Mexico ports," including New Orleans and Mobile, Ala.
