Idled RG Steelworkers Rally for Their Jobs
Thursday, August 30, 2012WARREN, Ohio – Bill Moss has seen this happen before.
He was a steelworker at the McDonald Works of for U.S. Steel Corp. in the 1970s and ‘80s, and he recalls the day the managers directed him to clean out his locker and pack his belongings because the plant was closing.
"It hit me hard," Moss said. "Now, I'm going through the same thing again."

Auto, Homeowners Insurance Rates Among Lowest
Thursday, August 30, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohioans’ 2011 average auto and homeowners insurance rates were again among the most competitive in the United States, the state Department of Insurance reported Wednesday. The Buckeye State boasted the 10th lowest auto insurance and sixth lowest homeowners' insurance premiums, on average, in the country.
The Ohio Department of Insurance annually compiles the state’s average auto and homeowners insurance rates, said Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor, also director of the department.
Biden to Speak At Friday Morning Rally in Lordstown

Gulfport Well Outperforms Chesapeake's Buell Well
Wednesday, August 29, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A well that Gulfport Energy Corp. drilled in southern Harrison County is producing more oil, natural gas liquids and dry natural gas combined at peak levels than the Buell well – considered the most productive well in the Utica shale.
During a conference call with analysts to discuss Gulfport's second-quarter earnings report, executives said their company's Wagner 1-28H well was producing at a peak rate of 4,650 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Soleil Café opened for business Aug. 17 but celebrated Tuesday with a media event. Located in the rear of the Lincoln Avenue building occupied by Jimmy John's, near the Youngstown State University campus, the restaurant specializes in crepes and offers other bakery items as well.
"'Soleil' is sun and we are planning on, hopefully, by our one-year anniversary partially being solar powered," Verde, of Boardman, said.
