Ohio Joins Effort to End Tobacco Sales at Pharmacies
Tuesday, March 18, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine has joined New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman in an effort to persuade the largest pharmacy chains in the United States to stop selling tobacco products.
The attorneys general of 28 states and territories have written to CEOs of Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Safeway and Kroger to ask that they remove all tobacco products from their shelves.
In addition, 32 attorneys general have commended CVS Caremark for that company's recent decision to end tobacco sales in its stores.
Lake Milton Man Pleads Guilty to Workers' Comp Fraud
Tuesday, March 18, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- William Mcie of Lake Milton pleaded guilty last month to one count of workers' compensation fraud for working while receiving workplace-injury benefits from Ohio. He is one of six individuals convicted of, or pleaded guilty to, charges related to defrauding the state system in February and will be sentenced April 2.
The findings of guilty are the result of investigations the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation Special Investigations Department conducted. The department works to deter, detect, investigate and prosecute workers' compensation fraud.
