Study Finds Sales Tax Gains, Scant Job Creation in Utica
Monday, August 26, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – A study conducted by the Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs at Cleveland State University finds that oil and gas exploration is spurring wealth across those counties where drilling is most active. The study also found that job creation in the Utica, hampered by several factors, has yet to catch fire.
The authors, Edward W. (Ned) Hill and Kelly L. Kinahan, compare counties considered "strong" shale areas with those moderate, weak or nonshale counties in Ohio.

Ohioans Get $383M from National Mortgage Settlement
Monday, August 26, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- More than 10,000 Ohioans have received more than $383 million in consumer relief from the National Mortgage Settlement since it was announced last year, according to a new report released through the office of the state attorney general.
The report summarizes self-reported data provided by the five mortgage servicers who are parties to the settlement: Ally, Bank of America, Citi, JPMorganChase, and Wells Fargo.
Youngstown Symphony to Perform with Cirque Musica

Blue Racer Midstream Gets $800M Credit Facility
Friday, August 23, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Blue Racer Midstream LLC has secured a five-year, $800 million credit facility, which can be expanded to $1 billion in the future the company announced Thursday. Formed in December, Dallas-based Blue Racer is a $1.5 billion joint venture between Caiman Energy II, LLC and Dominion Resources dedicated to providing Utica Shale producers with midstream services.
