McClendon Company Raises $1.7B to Explore Utica
Thursday, October 10, 2013OKLAHOMA CITY -- American Energy-Utica LLC, an affiliate of American Energy Partners LP, announced Wednesday that it has raised some $1.7 billion to fund oil and gas exploration across the Utica shale in eastern Ohio.
The company, founded by former Chesapeake Energy Corp. chairman and CEO Aubrey McClendon, said that The Energy & Minerals Group is lead equity investor in the venture. First Reserve Corp. and AEU management provided additional equity financing.
Matalco Inc. Eyes Lordstown for Aluminum Remelt Shop
Thursday, October 10, 2013LORDSTOWN, Ohio – A local economic development official expects to know within a few months whether a Canadian firm will move forward on a possible expansion project at Ohio Commerce Park here.
Matalco Inc., which manufactures billets and logs for the aluminum extrusion industry, is considering the commerce park for a remelt operation. The company plans to spend more than $70 million on the project, which would create 60 or more good-paying jobs, said Sarah Boyarko, vice president for economic development, retention and expansion, for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber.

Trade Group Expects Marginal Gains in Holiday Sales

Former Giffords’ Aide to Speak at Penn State Shenango

NAMII Rebrands Itself, Becomes 'America Makes'
Wednesday, October 09, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Members of the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute, or NAMII, entered a closed-door meeting yesterday at the DeYor Performing Arts Center and left as members of "America Makes."
Officials unveiled the new brand name of the organization during its second program management review, according to a press release issued this morning. The idea is to spark a unified, U.S.-based additive manufacturing and 3D printing movement, the organization said.
Halcon Gets Permit for New Well in Jackson Township
Wednesday, October 09, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued just one permit for a horizontal well last week for exploration in the Utica shale in eastern Ohio -- and it's for a property in Mahoning County.
Halcon Operating Co. Inc. was awarded a permit Oct. 4 to drill a new horizontal well in Jackson Township on the Grenamyer farm, according to ODNR data.
It is the second such permit that Halcon has obtained for a site in Mahoning County. An earlier well was drilled in Jackson Township on the Davidson property, records show.
