ELCH Nurses Nix Contract, Stops Merger with HMHP
Friday, June 27, 2014EAST LIVERPOOL -- The rejection of a contract offer by nurses at East Liverpool City Hospital appears to have also nixed the hospital’s pending merger with Humility of Mary Health Partners -- and put the future of the hospital itself in doubt, administrators say.
Nurses filed a 10-day strike notice May 31 then withdrew it and returned to the bargaining table. The sticking point reportedly is the hospital's demand for 16-hour shifts without overtime pay.
Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Begins $1.9M Project
Friday, June 27, 2014BOARDMAN, Ohio -- Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley has begun construction and renovations to the Special Care Nursery and Pediatric Inpatient Unit on its Beeghly campus. The inpatient unit will have more room to expand, while the SCN will provide private rooms for all patient families, officials said.
The budget for the entire project is $1.9 million, and the project is expected to be completed in the fall.
