Hospice Volunteers Earn a ‘Paycheck of the Heart’

As a member of the volunteer vigil team at Hospice of the Valley, her duty is to be at the bedsides of patients in their final hours. In some cases, the call comes late at night – or, depending on your view, early in the morning – informing her she needs to go a patient’s house or nursing home. That drive can take as long as an hour.
Trumbull Memorial Foundation Has $300K for Grants
Friday, August 15, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- The Trumbull Memorial Health Foundation, which has more than $300,000 to award in grants later this year, is looking for innovative programs that serve health needs of Trumbull County, Patrick K. Wilson announced Thursday.
Wilson is chairman of the board of the foundation.
The foundation is inviting requests for proposals as part of its ongoing effort to identify and provide funds to the best local initiatives that promote health services and/or health education.

Western Reserve Health Foundation Invites Proposals
Wednesday, August 13, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Western Reserve Health Foundation, which awards grants to programs that meet health needs in Mahoning County, is inviting proposals to consider for funding later this year.
WRHF Chairman Phillip Dennison, principal at Packer Thomas & Co., said the foundation has the potential to award up to $500,000 in grants in December. But its decisions will be based on the quality of proposals submitted.
