Region's Home Prices Drop 6.1% in February
Thursday, April 05, 2012SANTA ANA, Calif. – Area home prices, including distressed sales, decreased by 6.1% in February 2012 from a year earlier, CoreLogic reported on its latest home price index.
The report also showed that sales in the Youngstown-Warren-Boardman statistical area declined by 5.3% in January compared to the same month in 2011, revised data showed.
Excluding distressed properties, year-over-year prices declined by 7.8% in February 2012 compared to February 2011, and declined by 3.1% in January 2012 compared to January 2011.

Schiavoni Bill Protects Blighted-Property Cleanup
Monday, April 02, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio – Legislation that would make it easier for citizens to clean up blighted properties was approved unanimously, 30-0, by the Ohio Senate and now moves onto the state House of Representatives for further hearings.
Substitute Senate Bill 109, which was approved by the Senate last week, updates Ohio’s criminal trespassing laws to exclude persons who enter abandoned or blighted property for the purpose of remediation from being charged with trespassing.
Chamber: $1B Invested in Valley over 3 Years
Thursday, March 29, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is touting its latest economic development report card, which shows a total of $1.06 billion in economic activity over the last three years resulting in nearly 3,000 jobs through projects assisted by its economic development team.
Covering the 2009-2011 period, actual project investment and job creation totals were “well above the goals set by the chamber for economic development activity,” said Tom Humphries, the chamber's president and CEO, in a prepared statement.
