Mayor Wants City’s Focus on Services, Not Arena
Friday, April 27, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown got rid of assets such as Youngstown Municipal Airport, Lake Milton and the municipal parking deck downtown because of the cost to operate them, Mayor Chuck Sammarone says. That’s why the mayor says he wants to look into selling the Covelli Centre and, possibly, 20 Federal Place as well.
“Basic service – police, fire, plowing snow, cutting grass, filling potholes, whatever else our basic service covers – to me, that’s our priority,” Sammarone said. “Getting into other entities I believe is the responsibility of private business.”
