Young 2012 Expo Deadline Nears for Early Pricing
Friday, August 10, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The deadline is fast approaching for individuals interested in attending this year's Youngstown Ohio Utica & Natural Gas Conference & Expo, and exhibitor space is tightening as well.
As of yesterday, just seven exhibitor spaces remained, reported Bergen Giordani, director of special events for the Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber, which is staging Young 2012. The event is scheduled to take place Sept. 6 at the Covelli Centre downtown, followed by a half-day session featuring industry-related panels Sept. 7 at the Holiday Inn Boardman.

Shale Drilling Puts Pressure on Region's Water Supplies
Friday, August 03, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Buckeye Water District in Wellsville was enjoying a seven-month windfall of sales to the tune of $24,000 per month by selling water to energy giant Chesapeake Energy Corp. at $15 per thousand gallons. Then in May, Chesapeake approached the Buckeye board of directors with an ultimatum: either lower the price to $5 per thousand gallons, or lose the business for good.
“The board told them ‘No,’ ” says Buckeye Water District manager Al DeAngelis. “We charge our residential customers $10.17 per thousand. It wouldn’t have been fair to them.”
