Columbiana Jury Finds for Patriot Energy in Lawsuit
Friday, December 07, 2012LISBON, Ohio – A Columbiana County jury has found in favor of Patriot Energy Partners LLC and nine other defendants that were sued for allegedly engaging in wrongful business practices related to the acquisition of mineral leases.
The Columbiana County Court of Common Pleas website shows the verdict was handed down Dec. 4 in favor of defendants Patriot, its president Andrew Blocksom, Thomas Blocksom, Robert Dickey, PEP Leasing LLC, and five other entities.
Chesapeake, Gulfport, Hilcorp Issued More Permits
Wednesday, December 05, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oklahoma City-based Chesapeake Energy Corp. continues its aggressive permitting strategy in the Utica shale in eastern Ohio, particularly in Carroll County, state records show.
The Ohio Department of Natural Resources issued eight new permits for Chesapeake Exploration LLC for horizontal wells in that county during the week of Nov. 25.

Ergon to Spend $78M to Expand Newell Refinery
Tuesday, December 04, 2012NEWELL, W.Va. – Ergon Inc. says it plans to invest upwards of $78 million to expand is refinery here. The facility, Ergon-West Virginia, sits on land that borders the Ohio River across from East Liverpool and the Wellsville Intermodal Park on the Ohio side.
The expansion will add capacity in the refinery's processing units and infrastructure so the refinery can handle growing regional crude oil production throughout the Marcellus and Utica shale plays.
