Study: Ohio, PA Gain New Jobs from Shale Industry
Thursday, December 20, 2012WASHINGTON -- The state of Ohio is projected to gain 143,600 new jobs by 2020 from the emerging oil and gas industry, finds a new study commissioned by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and conducted by the IHS energy research firm (READ RELATED STORY).
Currently the industry supports 38,000 jobs in Ohio, according to the report, released Wednesday by the chamber's Institute for 21st Century Energy.

Tuesday, December 18, 2012NORTH JACKSON, Ohio – BP America is slated to drill at least 10 "appraisal" wells in Trumbull County next year starting in April, and if all goes according to plan, more will follow, executives said Monday.
“We’ll have those 10 locations drilled before the end of next year,” said Bruce Abbuhl, BP program manager for Ohio. “The purpose is to test the subsurface, look at the subsurface data core, and determine what type of liquids potential we have here along with gas.”
Regional Chamber to Facilitate API Certification
Monday, December 17, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber is talking with a Houston consulting firm in hopes of soon scheduling the region’s first three-day course to help local manufacturers become certified by the American Petroleum Institute.
“Once you’re an API-certified company, it makes the opportunities in the oil and gas industry that much better,” says Eric Planey, the chamber’s vice president of international business attraction.
