BWC Proposes to Keep Rate Reduction
Monday, April 30, 2012COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation has presented a plan to hold next year'saverage base premium rate for private employers at the current level. If approved, the plan would extend the $65 million in rate cuts enacted last year for Ohio's private sector employers.
The board of directors is expected to vote on the private employer rate proposal May 24.
Café 422 Buys Rusty’s Building for 2nd Restaurant
Friday, April 27, 2012BOARDMAN, Ohio – Café 422 will expand to Mahoning County, with its purchase of the former Rusty’s Southside Grille.
The 10,229-square-foot restaurant building was sold to Zaza LLC for $650,000 April 23, according to the Mahoning County Auditor’s website. The market value of the property is $947,670. The building was constructed in 1993, according to county records.

The local company provided two oversize, custom-made flame red ball sofas.

Lemon Grove Kickstarts Effort to Raise Funds
Thursday, April 26, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Jacob Harver, owner of The Lemon Grove LLC, launched a fundraising project to raise money for decorating the interior the closed Rosetta Stone Café two doors down, where the restaurant/bar is poised to relocate.
“We have the house, now we need your help to make it a home,” Harver said in a video on Kickstarter, an online platform where companies or people can post creative projects they need funding to complete and people can pledge donations.
Mahoning, Trumbull Counties Post Home Sales Gains
Thursday, April 26, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Home sale prices in Mahoning County last month surged from a year earlier, newly released figures for the Mahoning Valley market showed Wednesday.
In Mahoning County, the average sale price for a house in March was $92,692, up 43.0% from $64,819 in March 2011, and up more than $13,000 from February’s $79,461, monthly data compiled for the Youngstown-Columbiana Association of Realtors showed.
