New Cafe to Open in East Library Branch
Thursday, April 12, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The new café inside the East Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County will open to the public Saturday.
Operated by Mylissa and Benjamin Santiago, Yummy Mummy’s will offer a 20% discount on orders of $5 or more that day. The Santiagos, who have been operating a delivery and catering business, heard about the vacant café and inquired about the opportunity. From there “things fell into place” and they said they are happy about the prospect of joining the library.
Mom’s Meals Opens Kitchen Here to Feed More Seniors
Wednesday, April 11, 2012NORTH JACKSON, Ohio -- As almost 10,000 baby boomers turn 65 every day and the average lifespan grows longer, the list of companies that care for senior citizens grows longer as well.
One company that delivers meals to homebound seniors, Iowa-based Mom’s Meals, has opened its second kitchen in the Mahoning Valley. The president and co-owner of Mom's Meals, Rick Anderson, held a press event Tuesday to intoduce his company to the press.
Sales of New Vehicles Drop 17% in Valley
Tuesday, April 10, 2012YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of new vehicles in the Mahoning Valley fell 17% in March compared to the same period last year, the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio reported Monday.
Dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties reported they sold a total of 2,334 new cars and trucks in March versus 2,810 sold a year earlier.
Combined sales of new and used vehicles were also down, the association reported. Dealers reported sales of 6,894 units compared to 7,209 in March 2011, a drop of 4.3%.
Dry Spring Drives Golf Business at Kennsington Club
Monday, April 09, 2012CANFIELD, Ohio – A drier, warmer spring is getting Kennsington Golf Club off to a better start than 2011.
“It’s unbelievable the difference,” remarked Paul Otto, general manager and director of golf at the course. “It really has helped out. We don’t have the rain to deal with and the cold temperatures. It’s really been a nice spring and a nice start to the golf season.”
GM Sets March, Quarterly Sales Records in China
Monday, April 09, 2012SHANGHAI – General Motors and its joint ventures in China sold 257,944 vehicles in March and 745,152 vehicles in the first quarter of 2012, setting March and quarterly records.
GM’s domestic sales in March were up 10.7% from the same month in 2011. They were the second highest for any month in GM’s history in China. For the first three months as a whole, its domestic sales increased 8.7%, the best quarter since GM began doing business in China.
