Farmers Banc Corp. Names Helmick President and CEO
Friday, November 08, 2013CANFIELD, Ohio -- The board of directors of Farmers National Banc. Corp. announced Thursday that it has named Kevin J. Helmick as president and CEO of the company and of Farmers National Bank of Canfield, its wholly-owned subsidiary.
Helmick had been serving as interim president and CEO since Oct. 4. He replaces John S. Gulas, who was terminated Sept. 30.

Ohio Dems Urge Lockheed to Keep Akron Plant
Friday, November 08, 2013WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan continued his efforts Thursday to lobby Lockheed Martin on behalf of workers at the defense contractor’s Akron plant, joining with fellow Ohio Democratic lawmakers to urge the company to maintain its operations there.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown and Reps. Marcia Fudge and Marcy Kaptur joined Ryan, D-13, in sending a letter to the company that urged it to keep its Akron facilities and preserve the 600 jobs there.
MTR Gaming Posts 3Q Net Loss of $3.5 Million
Friday, November 08, 2013CHESTER, W.Va. -- MTR Gaming Group Inc. reports a third-quarter net loss of $3.6 million, or 13 cents per diluted share. This compares with net income of $5.3 million, or 19 cents per diluted share, for the third quarter of 2012.
On Sept. 9, the company and Eldorado HoldCo LLC entered into a definitive agreement under which MTR will combine with Eldorado in a strategic business combination.
MYR net revenues for the third quarter were $128.9 million, 11.5% less than the same period a year ago.
Cochran Returns to Area for 'Signature Affair' Book Tour
Thursday, November 07, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Les Cochran, president of Youngstown State University from 1992 through 2000, will return to campus Nov. 16, wearing his signature red fedora as he greets football fans partying in the tailgate lots. The visit kicks off a week-long book tour during which Cochran will promote his first novel, Signature Affair: Love, Lies and Liaisons.
The book is a wide departure from Cochran's years of academic writing. It tells the story of a married university president who simultaneously is having affairs with five women.
Portman Grills Sebelius over Health Care Rollout
Thursday, November 07, 2013WASHINGTON -- U.S. Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, grilled Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius regarding the troubled rollout of the Affordable Care Act and in particular its impact on Ohioans Wednesday on Capitol Hill.
During the hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, of which Portman is a member, he pointed out there were “plenty of warnings” about the problems that eventually were found with the rollout.

Thursday, November 07, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Timothy J. Fyda, president and CEO of Fyda Freightliner, is one of six nominees for 2014 Truck Dealer of the Year. The awards program is sponsored by American Truck Dealers and Heavy Duty Trucking magazine.
