Tim Ryan, D-17 Ohio, blasted the Bush Administration's proposal to cut future Social Security benefits for current workers. "The Bush Administration is preparing to unveil a Social Security privatization scheme that slashes seniors' benefits more than 40%," Ryan said earlier today.
Public to Get Peek at Youngstown 2010 Plan

The event, titled "Unveiling The Plan," will be held at Stambaugh Auditorium, he said. A partnership between The City of Youngstown and Youngstown State University, the Youngstown 2010 initiative held a series of meetings over the last two years to give citizens the opportunity to express their concerns, hopes and vision for the future of the city, Williams said.

David Robison, who was the city's director of engineering, planning and zoning, reportedly had his golf clubs stolen from the city-owned Avalon South Golf Course in the summer of 1999 -- an incident that was the genesis of the fraud scheme that yesterday resulted in Gregory S. New Vehicle Sales Down 6% in December at GM
Wednesday, January 05, 2005DETROIT -- General Motors dealers sold 437,161 new cars and trucks in December, down 6%compared to very strong year-ago sales, which included significantly higher fleet deliveries, officials announced yesterday. During the month, a total of 4,507 of the 2005 Chevrolet Cobalts, manufactured at the company's assembly plant in Lordstown, Ohio, were sold. Sales of new Chevrolet Cavaliers and Pontiac Sunfires, manufactured in previous years at the Lordstown plant, were mixed. A total of 8,754 Cavaliers were sold, down 61.1% from December 2003.
Charter One Bank Names Ohio President, CEO"

Since 1999, he served as regional pesident of Citizens Bank of Connecticut.In Ohio, Handy will oversee all aspects of Charter One's retail, commercial and business banking operations throughout the state. Handy, 43, assumes the job effective immediately and will relocate to Cleveland with his family this spring.
Europeans are World's Biggest Spenders
Wednesday, January 05, 2005LONDON -- More than half of consumers in Europe's largest countries say their economies have deteriorated in the last six months and, with few signs of economic recovery, are bracing themselves for another tough year ahead, according to the findings of a survey released recently by ACNielsen. The Italians remain the most pessimistic overall (only 21% believe the economy will improve over the next 12 months) with Europe's most optimistic nation being Norway (where 42% believe the economy will improve).
