Teamsters Settle Contract Dispute with Vindicator
Monday, January 10, 2005YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A $1,000 signing bonus immediately, another $1,000 bonus six months from now but no pay raise. That's what it took for members of Teamsters Local 437 to "overwhelmingly" ratify a new one-year contract with The Vindicator that includes a 15% co-pay for health insurance premiums.The vote -- the final tally was not disclosed -- was taken Sunday morning at Irish Bob's.

Monday, January 10, 2005LITTLE ROCK, Ark.-- Alltel has reached an agreement to purchase Western Wireless Corp. of Bellevue, Wash., in a stock-and-cash transaction valued at approximately $6 billion, officials announced earlier today. Alltel will gain about 1.4 million domestic wireless customers in 19 western and midwestern states that are contiguous to existing properties, giving the company 10 million domestic wireless customers in 33 states and creating additional scale and scope in attractive and complementary markets.
