Pennsylvania 'Blues' Agree to Commit Funds Annually
Monday, February 07, 2005"PHILADELPHIA -- Pennsylvania Gov. Edward G. Rendell yesterday announced a landmark agreement with Pennsylvania's four Blue Cross/Blue Shield plans for an ongoing annual commitment of funds for Annual Community Health Reinvestment. For this year alone, more than $85 million of the nearly $150 million in committed reinvestment will be used to provide affordable basic health care coverage for thousands of low-income and uninsured Pennsylvanians, Rendell said.
Stoneridge Posts $92.5 Million Net Loss for 2004
Monday, February 07, 2005"WARREN, Ohio -- Stoneridge Inc. today reported a net loss of $92.5 million, or $4.09 per diluted share, for 2004 and a net loss of $114.9 milion, or $5.07 per diluted share, for the fourth quarter of last year. Net sales for the year were $681.8 million and $12.2 million for the fourth quarter.Comparatively, net sales for 2003 were $606.7 million. The 12% increase in 2004 came primarily as a result of stronger performance in the company's commercial vehicle business, which more than offset the decline in traditional domestic North American light vehicle production, according to Gerald V.
YSU Names Special Assistant to President

License Plate Supports Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation
Monday, February 07, 2005"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A new license plate recognizing Ohio's beef industry is now available for sale from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles. A portion of plate cost will be given to the Ohio Cattlemen's Foundation, which supports the industry through scholarships and education programs. "Ohio has more than 1.25 million head of cattle and calves," said Franklin Caltrider, BMV registrar. "These plates recognize the importance of the industry to our state and our economy."The plates cost $25 in addition to the normal registration fees.
"Stericycle to Pay $10,900 EPA Penalty"
Monday, February 07, 2005"COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Stericycle Inc., Warren, Ohio, has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $10,900 to the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency, according to a news release from the agency. The penalty is for violating hazardous waste laws, the release said. Stericycle operates an infectious waste incinerator and two autoclaves at its facility located at 1901 Pine Avenue S.E. The facility is a large generator of hazardous waste including wastewater treatment sludge and incinerator ash.
New York Developers Purchase National City Bank Building

"An Insider's Scoop: A Conversation with Jan Hopkins" is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. in the Alumni Heritage Room in Teachout Price Hall.A native of Warren, Ohio, Hopkins is a 1969 graduate of Hiram College. She studied psychology and elementary education. A life-changing experience on a study abroad trip led her to a career in journalism. "I was studying in Prague when Russia invaded Czechoslovakia in 1968," said Hopkins.
New Wilmington Area Business Expo Set for March 19
Monday, February 07, 2005NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The third annual New Wilmington Area Business Expo will be held Saturday, March 19 at the Westminster College Memorial Field House, and the deadline for businesses to register is Feb. 14, according to Betty Jones, co-chairman of the event. Available space, she added, is filling up fast.Last year's Business Expo featured booths from 105 area businesses and over 1,000 visitors packed the Westminster Field House, Jones said.
