Hilcorp Gets Six Permits for Mercer County Wells
Thursday, December 12, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Hilcorp Energy Co., the most active driller in Mahoning County, has received six new permits for wells in Mercer County, Pa., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
The DEP awarded two horizontal permits for new wells in Jefferson Township on the Jefferson McGhee pad and four new vertical permits at the same site.
Often, a vertical permit is issued before a horizontal permit is approved by the DEP.
No new permits were issued in Lawrence County last week, records show.

Ryan, House Dems Urge Vote on Jobless Benefits
Thursday, December 12, 2013WASHINGTON -- U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-13 Ohio, joined 165 of his Democratic House colleagues Wednesday in signing a letter to House Speaker John Boehner urging him to bring an extension of federal unemployment benefits to the House floor for a vote.
Benefits are scheduled to expire Dec. 28, cutting jobless aid to 1.3 million Americans immediately, and an additional 1.9 million Americans will lose their federal unemployment insurance during the first six months of 2014, according to the Democrats.
