CCPA OKs $16K to Survey 1.5 Miles of Rail

GM to Invest $1.3 Billion at Flint, 4 Other Plants
Tuesday, December 17, 2013FLINT, Mich. -- General Motors plans to invest nearly $1.3 billion in five manufacturing sites in Michigan, Ohio and Indiana to produce new fuel-efficient engines and transmissions, enhance vehicle quality and streamline logistics, the company said Monday. The investments combined will create or retain about 1,000 jobs.
St. E’s Boardman Opens Infusion Center Thursday
Tuesday, December 17, 2013BOARDMAN, Ohio –- Patients who need outpatient IV infusion therapy have a new option at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center, which is opening an infusion center Thursday. The center provides an alternative to hospitalization, nursing home admission or home care.
The center, on the first floor adjacent to the main lobby, “offers an easily accessible, relaxing environment for infusion patients. Many IV therapies are available, with a physician’s order, seven days a week including holidays,” officials said.
Pa. Table Games Revenues Jump 14% in November
Tuesday, December 17, 2013HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Revenue from table games played at the 12 casinos in Pennsylvania was $63.7 million in November, the state Gaming Control Board announced Monday. It is the second-largest monthly table games revenue collected, trailing only the $67.4 million collected in March.
The November figure represents a 14.1% increase in revenue from table games played compared to November 2012, says the Gaming Control Board.
WKBN Mourns Death of News Director Gary Coursen
Monday, December 16, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- WKBN announced this afternoon that its longtime news director, Gary Coursen, died shortly after noon at University Hospitals in Cleveland. He was 55.
Coursen was diagnosed with cancer this summer that was centered around his nasal area and had moved to his brain. He underwent chemotherapy and radiation and then, on Thursday, an operation to remove the cancer. The operation was first deemed a success but Coursen went into a deep coma over the weekend.
McNally to Retain 3, Bozanich to Step Down
Monday, December 16, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Mayor-elect John A. McNally announced today that Fire Chief John O’Neill, Water Commissioner Harry Johnson, Building and Grounds Commissioner Sean McKinney will be retained to serve their current posts in his administration. “I am confident they will provide a seamless transition and implement changes and policies I have planned for the city," McNally said in a statement. "I look forward to working with them.”
O’Neill has served as fire chief since January 1998 and has been in the fire department since 1995.
Network Solutions Provider Project on Agency's Agenda
Monday, December 16, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is expected to vote tomorrow to approve an application for tax credits submitted by Network Solutions Provider, a Los Angeles company that is considering opening an office in Youngstown.
The company’s application for tax credits is one of three items on the agency’s agenda for its meeting Tuesday. The other two items involve the H.J. Heinz Co., which is seeking state assistance for projects at its Massillon and Fremont food factories.

Autism Academy to Receive $125K in Ceremony Thursday
Monday, December 16, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Potential Development Brighter Futures Autism Academy will receive $125,000 from the Hine Memorial Fund Thursday. The fund is a component of the Youngstown Foundation.
During the ceremony, to be held at the new high school on Market Street, The Hine Memorial Fund will present the agency with $100,000 to support the renovation of the new high school’s model apartment, fitness room and fine arts learning center. The Youngstown Foundation will award Potential Development with a $25,000 grant to support renovation of two classrooms.
