Health-Care Costs for Commercial Plans Up 3.2%

Medical costs -- inpatient and outpatient hospitalization plus professional services -- rose 3.7% and prescription drugs 0.9% over the same period.

Analysts: Pa. Court Gives Ohio More Shale Potential
Thursday, January 09, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A recent decision by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that empowers municipalities in that state to regulate oil and gas exploration could lead to more drilling and business opportunities in Ohio, consultants say.
"There are more than 5,000 municipalities in Pennsylvania," says Steve Franckhauser, director of HbK Energy, based in Boardman. "Each municipality is now free to create its own drilling industry rules."

Survey Finds CEO Optimism Reaches 2-Year High
Thursday, January 09, 2014SAN DIEGO -- Optimism among the nation's chief executive officers reached a two-year high in the fourth quarter of 2013, says the Vistage Confidence Index. The largest gains were in CEOs' evaluations of the overall economy, although revenue and profit expectations posted healthy advances as well.
Vistage, founded in 1957, assembles and facilitates private advisory boards for CEOs, senior executives and business owners.
Its confidence index was 101.5 in the quarter, up from 97.8 in the quarter before and well above the 87 recorded in the same quarter of 2012.
