Young Adults’ Financial Practices Quite Different
Monday, January 06, 2014PITTSBURGH -- The financial habits and practices of those 20 to 24 years of age are very different from those of older adults, finds PNC Wealth Management’s newly released financial independence survey.
Those conducting the survey sought insights into the financial patterns and mindsets of 20- to 29- year-olds, PNC said, by comparing responses both within the age group and among those with and without higher education.
Cruze Sales Contribute to 10% Gain for GM Segment
Friday, January 03, 2014DETROIT – Best-ever sales of the Lordstown, Ohio-built Chevrolet Cruze in 2013 contributed to a 10% increase over 2012 in combined sales of mini, small and compact cars for General Motors Co., the automaker reports.
The gain in the segment, which was also helped by a best-ever sales performance for the Chevrolet Sonic, were among the highlights featured in GM’s monthly and yearend results released today.
Wean Demolition Opens 10 Acres for Development
Friday, January 03, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Demolition and remediation work is proceeding at the former Wean United property in downtown Youngstown, a project that could mean as much as 10 acres of developable property for the city.
Work began about six to eight weeks ago on the first phase of demolition, which will take down about 145,000 square feet of the 210,000 square feet of structure on the site, says T. Sharon Woodberry, city economic development director.

Online Retail Sales in US Headed for $508B by 2020

This compares to online sales of $260 billion last year -- a compound annual growth rate of nearly 11% from 2012 through 2020.
FTI Consulting Inc. is a business advisory firm with more than 4,100 employees in 25 countries.

Thursday, January 02, 2014NEW YORK -- Rearing a child born in 2012 for 18 years will cost the average middle-income couple $241,080, based on the calculations of LoansForPoor Credit.net. This represents an increase of 3% from the projected cost of rearing a child born in 2011.
The country's median annual household income has fallen since 2000 by more than $4,000 after inflation adjustments are taken into account, the organization says.
Tweet, Tweet: 80% of World Leaders Use Twitter
Thursday, January 02, 2014WASHINGTON -- In 2013, 80% -- or four of five -- world leaders were using Twitter, says the fourth annual ranking by the Digital Policy Council. This represents a growth of 8% over 2012 and contrasts sharply with the upsurge of 78% between 2011 and 2012.
President Obama continues to occupy the No. 1 spot, gaining 16 million followers in just one year. A noticeable upturn occurred during the federal government shutdown last October as Obama, other officeholders and citizens alike tweeted their frustrations.
McNally Says His Focus Is Strengthening Partnerships
