Ashtabula Plant to Hire 100, Expand Operations to 24/7
Wednesday, January 29, 2014ASHTABULA, Ohio – Mohawk Fine Papers Inc. is in the process of hiring 100 workers as it expands its envelope plant in Saybrook Township from a five-day operation to a new 24/7 model.
The privately owned family business says it is investing millions of dollars in converting equipment upgrades in the company’s one-million-square-foot plant here with plans to expand its envelope output this year. The exact amount of the projected investment was not disclosed.

The supply of late-model used cars and trucks will be more plentiful the result, in large measure, of an 18% surge in off-lease volume.

Unemployment Rates Drop in Mahoning Valley
Tuesday, January 28, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown experienced a full percentage point decrease in its unemployment rate last month, dropping to 9.1% in December from 10.1% the month before, the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services reported this morning. The December rate was up slightly from a year earlier, 8.9% in December 2012.
Warren’s unemployment rate also improved, to 8.3% in December from 8.8% the month before and from 9.8% in December 2012.
YSU Opens Center for Additive Manufacturing

Ryan Joins Manufacturing Advocates to Push Obama

First General Services Cleans Up with New Technology
Tuesday, January 28, 2014FARRELL, Pa. -- A $250,000 investment in state-of-the-art cleaning technology has helped a fire repair and restoration company attract new business and provide its customers with additional services.
"We've already had an increase in contents restoration over what we did before," reports Ted Koppel, president and CEO of First General Services of Western Pennsylvania. "We're also going a little bit further, as far as distance goes, for content restoration."
First General Services, established in 1984, hosted a ribbon-cutting at its offices Monday.

The site features both public and account-specific pages, Fitzgerald says. The public side offers information about locations and contact information, sales representative service areas, tire rebate forms, equipment sales, tire brands offered, tire programs, reward trips summaries, press releases and a history of the company.
