Berk Enterprises Sees Green with Vegware Partnership
Monday, February 03, 2014WARREN, Ohio – The trend toward environmentally conscious packaging has brought a rapidly growing company in the United Kingdom to Warren, helping a business here weigh an expansion likely to create more jobs, principals say.
Vegware Ltd., based in Edinburgh, Scotland, announced Friday that it's secured a partnership with Berk Enterprises Inc., 1554 Thomas Road, to serve as the sole U.S. distributor of its full line of biodegradable products such as disposable cups, plates, flatware, soup containers, food cartons and carriers, bags, and napkins.
Team NEO Attracts 16 Companies in 2013
Monday, February 03, 2014CLEVELAND -- Team Northeast Ohio, in partnership with local economic development organizations, JobsOhio and the state of Ohio, recruited a record 16 new companies to northeastern Ohio in 2013, representing nearly 1,400 new jobs and more than $85 million in new direct annual payroll for the 18-county region, the agency reports.
Companies attracted in 2013 chose locations across the region, including Cuyahoga, Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Stark, Summit and Wayne counties, according to a newly released summary report.
Cortland Bancorp Reports 2013 Net Income of $1.8M
Monday, February 03, 2014CORTLAND, Ohio -- Cortland Bancorp, holding company for Cortland Savings and Banking Co. reports a net loss of $462,000 for the quarter ended Dec. 31 but net income of $1.8 million for all of 2013. The quarterly loss translates to 11 cents a share and full-year net income to 39 cents a share.
For the fourth quarter of 2012, Cortland reported a net loss of $464,000, or 11 cents a share, and net income for all of 2012 of $2.9 million, or 64 cents a share.
YSU, YBI to Collaborate on Hybrid Manufacturing

The collaboration builds on YSU and YBI’s recent success in securing funding to promote the use of additive manufacturing in the metal casting industry, said Barb Ewing, YBI's chief operating officer.
19th Annual 'Mad About the Arts' Feb. 21

Blue Racer Project Awaits Results from Northern Utica
Friday, January 31, 2014PITTSBURGH -- An executive from one of the major midstream companies developing the Utica shale in Pennsylvania and Ohio says it still wants to develop a processing network in the northern tier of the play, but won’t move forward until producers feel more confident about oil and gas production there.
"When you look at Trumbull and other counties where there's been a lot of drilling going on, the results haven't been as good," compared to wells drilled 100 or more miles to the south, observes Jack Lafield, CEO of Caiman Energy and Blue Racer Midstream.
