Report Finds Currency Reform Would Create Millions of Jobs
Thursday, February 27, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A report issued by the Economic Policy Institute argues that cracking down on countries that artificially devalue their currency could lead to millions of new jobs in the United States within three years.
U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, used the new report as a basis for a conference call with reporters Wednesday as he urged support for his legislation that would treat currency manipulation as a violation of U.S. trade law.

YSU Trustees Look to Provost as Interim President
Wednesday, February 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The chairman of the Youngstown State University Board of Trustees, Sudershan Garg, told reporters tonight that when the provost, Ikram Khawaja, returns from his overseas trip March 15, he will be asked to serve as interim president should Randy Dunn agree to leave his position as YSU president and all legal terms are settled.
Last week, Dunn, after only seven months on the job, gave the board notice that he will resign as president effective Aug. 16. Dunn subsequently told reporters he would leave sooner should the board ask him to do so.
Huntington Acquisition of Camco Nearly Complete
Wednesday, February 26, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission Wednesday, Huntington Bancshares Inc. said it has received all applicable regulatory and shareholder approvals to acquire Camco Financial Corp., Cambridge, and expects the transaction to be completed this Saturday.
Huntington Bancshares is the holding company of Huntington National Bank, Camco the holding company of Advantage Bank. The providers of financial services announced their intent to merge last Oct. 9 with Huntington paying $97 million in stock and cash.
Chesapeake Says It Expects Utica Ramp Up in 2014
Wednesday, February 26, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Chesapeake Energy Corp. said it expects production of natural gas and natural gas liquids from its wells in eastern Ohio's Utica shale to reach 700 million cubic feet per day by the end of this year.
The company provided a Utica update along with its 2013 fourth quarter and year-end results Wednesday.
Utica net production averaged approximately 189 million cubic feet of natural gas and NGLs per day, an increase of 309% compared to the same period last year and a 15% boost from the third quarter, Chesapeake said.
