Covelli Centre Seeks Workers, Nonprofits to Staff Concessions
Thursday, February 07, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Covelli Centre is looking for non-profit groups to work concession stands to raise money for their organizations and is seeking to hire for various kitchen and other positions as well.
Eligible nonprofit groups must have at least 30 members and be able to work nights and weekends, according to an email sent by the Covelli Centre.
The downtown arena also is seeking experienced fry cooks, concession workers and supervisors, kitchen staff and wait staff.

Saturday Delivery to End, Certain Operations to Move
Wednesday, February 06, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Beginning Feb. 23, all daily mail now cancelled at the U.S. Postal Service's downtown center will be transferred to Cleveland for processing. And beginning Aug. 1, the post office plans to stop delivering mail on Saturdays.
The Postal Service said this morning that it would cease delivering letters on Saturday, although package delivery will continue, the agency announced today.
"It's going to hit mail carriers pretty bad," said Dominic Corso, president of American Postal Workers' Union Local 443.
FDIC Lifts Consent Order on Home Savings and Loan
Wednesday, February 06, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. and Ohio Division of Financial Institutions have lifted their consent orders on the Home Savings and Loan Co., its parent company, United Community Financial Corp., announced after markets closed Tuesday.
Home Savings agreed to the consent orders last March 30 after operating under cease-and-desist orders since August 2008.
D&L's Lupo Owns Company That Dumped Drilling Waste

Farmers Eyes Downtown Branch in Realty Tower

"It's a matter of dotting some I's and crossing some T's, but I would say within the next 30 days max we'll have a deal finalized and we'll be well on our way," said Dominic Marchionda, who owns the Realty Tower, where Farmers plans to locate the branch if the negotiations are successful. "We've been waiting for the right tenant so with this tenant the commercial space will be fully occupied."

CoreLogic Reports House Prices Up in Metro Region
Wednesday, February 06, 2013IRVINE, Calif. -- Nationwide, housing prices, including distressed sales, rose 8.3% in December compared to a year earlier. The numbers are better in Youngstown-Warren-Boardman, where house prices increased 9.5%, reports CoreLogic, a financial data and analytics company.
Distressed sales consist of short sales and real estate owned transactions.
