Friday, February 15, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Mahoning Valley is on target to attract at least two more gas processing plants and hundreds of millions of dollars in new investment within the next two years as two midstream companies jockey for position in this part of the Utica shale.
Blue Racer Midstream LLC, a $1.5 billion joint venture between Dominion and Caiman Energy II, plans to develop three new processing plants in Ohio, one slated near the hamlet of Petersburg in southeastern Mahoning County, principals say.

Trades Protest Use of Outside Labor for Pipeline Project
Friday, February 15, 2013SALINEVILLE, Ohio – About 100 members of the building trades unions braved the cold and lined state Route 39 Thursday in an effort to lobby out-of-state companies engaged in oil and gas midstream development to hire local workers for new pipeline construction jobs.
"All this other stuff coming up seems to be going to out-of-state contractors that aren't utilizing our local workforce," said Clint Powell, business manager for the Laborers International Union of North America Local 809 in Steubenville. "These companies coming in here need to start hiring more local workers."
Activists Blast Water Sale at Commissioners Hearing

The comments by Youngstown residents Lynn Anderson and Susie Beiersdorfer were prompted by commissioners’ decision last week to sell up to 500,000 gallons of water per day to CNX Gas Group LLC to frack a well it has drilled on Blott Road in Jackson Township.
Chamber to Host Oil & Gas Certification Training
Friday, February 15, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown/Warren Regional Chamber will host the American Petroleum Institute’s Spec Q1 Training at the Holiday Inn-Boardman April 9 and 10. The training is an essential tool in the certification process that manufacturers and suppliers to the oil and gas industry must have, chamber officials said.
The class will be taught by Ed Durante, president of Texas International Engineering Consultants of Houston, will teach the class. He has more than 35 years of project experience in the industry.
