CCPA Approves Road Work Near Intermodal Park
Tuesday, February 19, 2013EAST LIVERPOOL, Ohio – The Columbiana County Port Authority has engaged Dallis Dawson & Associates to oversee improvements to a 2,200-foot section of Clark Avenue within Wellsville once the grants to fund the project are released.
Work should begin and be concluded this spring, the CEO of the port authority, Tracy Drake, informed his board Monday.
Ohio Sees 8,060 New Business Filings in January
Tuesday, February 19, 2013COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A total of 8,060 new entities filed to do business in Ohio last month. This compares with 6,940 in January 2012.
New business filings are classified as forms filed with the Ohio Secretary of State that declare the formation of a business entity, including for-profit, nonprofit and professional corporations, limited liability companies, partnerships, limited partnerships and limited liability partnerships, said Jon Husted, secretary of state. Filing as a business in Ohio does not guarantee the company will begin operations, be profitable or create jobs.

Chamber Sets Intern Information Sessions

The program centers on the fields of science, technology, engineering and math as well as business administration.
Eastern Gateway Community College, headquartered in Steubenville, is participating in the internship program as well.
The identical sessions will be held March 8 at the Holiday Inn-Boardman and March 15 at Leo’s Ristorante, Howland.
Workers Piece Together Pipeline in Poland Township

Schiavoni Co-sponsors Bill In Wake of Lupo Dumping

Joe Schiavoni and Frank LaRose are introducing legislation to impose tougher penalties for the illegal dumping of waste from oil and gas drilling after a federal charge was filed against businessman Ben Lupo last week. Lupo, who owns D&L Energy Group and Hardrock Excavating, Youngstown, is accused of dumping brine into a tributary of the Mahoning River.

EGCC Has 2 Welding Scholarships for Oil & Gas Fields
Monday, February 18, 2013STEUBENVILLE, Ohio -- Eastern Gateway Community College is offering two renewable scholarships from the Ohio Oil & Gas Energy Education Foundation. Each $1,000 annual scholarship may be renewed for up to four years for a maximum of $4,000.
The scholarship is limited to undergraduate students, and recipients must maintain a GPA of 2.50 or better for renewal.
