Dunn Offers Legalistic Defense for His Resignation
Tuesday, February 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Randy J. Dunn fulfilled the legal requirements of resigning Monday as president of Youngstown State University to the satisfaction, however grudging, of its board of trustees.
As provided for in his employment contract, Dunn has the right to unilaterally end that employment on condition that he give 180 days’ notice. Dunn was named the next president of Southern Illinois University Monday afternoon. He will replace Glenn Poshard, who is retiring June 30.

Edinboro University Cuts Tuition Costs for Ohio Students
Tuesday, February 18, 2014EDINBORO, Pa. -- Edinboro University will reduce out-of-state tuition for the first time for students enrolling in the university for the fall semester.
The reduction is the equivalent of a $3,000 scholarship and makes the cost of attending comparable to the price Ohio students would pay at many institutions in their home state, university officials say.
Oh Wow! Children's Center Celebrates 100,000th Visitor
Tuesday, February 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology celebrated the arrival of its 100,000th visitor Monday.
Shannon Andre of Liberty and her children -- Kara, 6, Kaitlyn, 4, and Jason, 2 -- were showered in paper confetti and scarves from the Windy Pipes exhibit. The Andre family, longtime members of the museum, were the 100,000th, 100,001st, 100,002nd and 100,003rd visitors.
New Wilmington Chamber Seeks Expo Participants
Tuesday, February 18, 2014NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The New Wilmington Area Chamber of Commerce will host its 12th annual Business Expo on March 15. Area businesses, including those that are home-based, are encouraged to participate.
In addition to a nominal registration fee, each participating vendor is required to furnish a door prize. Businesses are not required to join the New Wilmington Chamber to participate.
The event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Westminster College Memorial Field House.
Admission to the expo is $1 and proceeds will benefit local charities.
Fin Feather Fur Outfitters Coming to Boardman
Tuesday, February 18, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- A Fin Feather Fur Outfitters store is expected to open this spring at Tiffany Square Plaza in Boardman. Space for the store has been leased by Kutlick Realty LLC.
Fin Feather Fur Outfitters, opened in 1985 by Mike Goschinski in Ashland, Ohio, specializes in hunting, fishing and camping clothing and equipment, and is the largest retailer of new and used firearms in Ohio.
The company also has stores in Canton and Cleveland.
YSU Accepts Dunn's Resignation, 180-Day Notice
Monday, February 17, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --The Youngstown State University Board of Trustees tonight accepted the resignation of Randy J. Dunn as the university's president. In so doing, the board accepted Dunn's 180-day notice of his intent to leave YSU and accept the position as the next president of Southern Illinois University.
The board said it is in the best interests of the university to allow Dunn to work through transition efforts over the next six months. Said Sundershan Garg, chairman of the trustees, "It will take the trustees at least three to four months to find Dunn's successor."
Trustees Behind Closed Doors Discussing Dunn
Monday, February 17, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Board of Trustees at Youngstown State University entered their meeting room in Tod Hall shortly after 6 p.m. and sat in silence for nearly five minutes until the president of YSU, Randy J. Dunn, entered the room accompanied by the secetary to the board, Franklin S. Bennett Jr.
Sudershan Garg, chairman of the trustees called the meeting to order -- the 323rd in the board's history, he noted -- and dispensed with the reading of minutes from the previous meeting.
