YSU Foundation Allocation to YSU at Record High
Thursday, March 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio --The Youngstown State University Foundation will allocate a record $7.4 million in scholarship support to YSU next academic year, the university reports.
Over three years, the YSU Foundation’s scholarship allocations to the university have increased by $2.6 million, from $4.8 million in 2011-12 to $7.4 million in 2014-15.
“During this time of increasing costs, we are pleased to raise the amount of financial support available to students pursuing their educational goals at YSU,” said Tom Fleming, chairman of the YSU Foundation Board of Trustees.
CPA Survey Indicates Optimism Among Executives
Thursday, March 06, 2014NEW YORK -- Business executives appear to be more optimistic about the U.S. economy, with modest growth in recruitment, staff training and targeted capital investment anticipated over the next 12 months, a newly released survey shows.
That optimism is reflected in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants’ first quarter economic outlook survey, which was conducted Feb. 11-26 and included 867 qualified responses from CPAs who hold leadership positions, such as chief financial officer or controller, at their companies.
Dunn Agrees to Step Down as YSU President March 21
Thursday, March 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Randy J. Dunn will step down as president of Youngstown State University March 21 and move out of the presidential residence, Pollock House, within the following 30 days.
Under the separation agreement he reached with YSU trustees Wednesday night, Dunn will be paid his salary until the 21st and the university will pay his health insurance, or Cobra, until June 30 “unless he is eligible for other coverage prior to that date,” a university spokesman said.
Halcon: 'Premature' to Comment on $70M Project

Marcellus Shale Documentary Project Comes to YSU
Thursday, March 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The Youngstown State University Department of Art is presenting a series of events called the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project: MSDP, which includes a photography exhibit, series of lectures and film screening throughout the month of March.
The photography exhibit, on display in the Bliss Hall Gallery through April 4, features the work of Noah Addis, Nina Berman, Brian Cohen, Scott Goldsmith, Lynn Johnson, and Martha Rial, the six photographers of the Marcellus Shale Documentary Project.

YMCA Spin-A-Thon to Take Place March 8
Thursday, March 06, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- The YMCA will host its annual Spin-A-Thon on March 8. This will be the second initiative of the Y’s Annual Campaign fundraising effort.
In 2013, 200 spinners raised more than $50,000 that helped to provide financial assistance to thousands of underprivileged youth, families and individuals in the community for membership and/or program fees, officials said.
