Cafaro Foundation Gives Chamber $100K for Trumbull Development

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership Hosts Green Events
Wednesday, June 25, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- The Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership hosted two events downtown Tuesday, both focusing on making the community more environmentally friendly.
Starting off the afternoon was the Greater Warren Safe, Clean & Green Expo, where 10 exhibitors, including the Mosquito Lake Greenway Project and Valley Energy Solutions, a solar panel installation company based in Salem, participated in panel discussions.
PNC Tops Off New Global Headquarters
Wednesday, June 25, 2014PITTSBURGH -- PNC Financial Services Group Inc. is celebrating the topping off of its new global headquarters, The Tower at PNC Plaza. The final steel beam was placed atop the structure during a ceremony Tuesday.
The 33-story tower with 800,000 square feet is on the southeastern corner of Fifth Avenue and Wood Street and will house some 2,200 employees upon its opening in the fall of 2015. The building will help accommodate PNC's growth and support further business development in the downtown.
Consumer Confidence Index at Highest Level in 5 Years
Wednesday, June 25, 2014NEW YORK -- The Conference Board Consumer Confidence Index, which had increased in May, now stands at its highest level since January 2008. The index as of June 13 is 85.2, up from 82.2 in May.
The present aituation index rose to 85.1 from 80.3, while the expectations index went to 85.2 from 83.5 in May. Both are components of the Consumer Confidence Index.
Stambaugh, Ogilvie Projects Get Historic Tax Credits

Valley House Sales Show Mixed Results in May
Tuesday, June 24, 2014YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Home sales declined during May in Mahoning and Trumbull counties compared to May 2013, while Columbiana County sales were up, monthly data released by the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors shows.
Sales totaled 202 single-family units in May in Mahoning County, down from 239 a year earlier and on par with April’s 201 sold. In Trumbull County, the 138 houses sold in May is down from 161 a year earlier and down from the 151 sold in April. In Columbiana County, May’s 73 units sold surpassed the 60 sold a year earlier and the 61 sold in April.
Youngstown Design Works’ Launches Pop-Up Shop
Tuesday, June 24, 2014WARREN, Ohio -- Youngstown Design Works is hosting its inaugural Pop-Up Shop this week at 124 N. Park Ave., providing graphic design consultation to nearby businesses and nonprofit organizations for a nominal fee.
Design Works, which began operations in April, is an agency operated by Youngstown State University art students. For the Pop-Up Shop, 11 students are working with clients such as the Warren Business Exchange and the Associated School Employees Credit Union.
