Portman Tours GM Plant, Meets with Chamber
Saturday, July 19, 2014LORDSTOWN, Ohio -- Trade and energy are among the issues that can be addressed at the federal level to help make U.S. auto manufacturers such as General Motors Co. more competitive, U.S. Sen. Rob Portman said Friday.
Following a tour of GM’s Lordstown complex, Portman, R-Ohio, hailed the efforts of workers and management as well as GM’s “cutting edge” technology. “Right now everybody is working as a team and that team is producing a world-class car in a world-class production facility,” he declared.
Huntington Reports 2Q Net Income of $164.6 Million
Friday, July 18, 2014COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Huntington Bancshares Inc., parent of Huntington National Bank, Friday reported net income of $164.6 million for the quarter ended June 30, or 19 cents per diluted share.
This is $13.6 million more than second-quarter 2013 net income of $151.0 million, or 17 cents per diluted share. Huntington reported net income of $149.1 million the quarter ended March 31, or 17 cents a share.
The Huntington board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend of five cents per common share payable Oct. 1 to shareholders of record Sept. 17.

Friday, July 18, 2014NEW YORK -- California officials have ordered an emergency shut-down of 11 oil and gas waste injection sites and a review more than 100 others in the state's drought-wracked Central Valley out of fear that companies may have been pumping fracking fluids and other toxic waste into drinking water aquifers there.

Fudge, D-11, today announced legislation that establishes a five-year demonstration project to expand cost-effective, community-based treatment options to address the heroin/opiate epidemic. Friday, July 18, 2014AUSTINTOWN, Ohio -- More than 100 additional job openings were posted Thursday by Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course as it ramps up recruiting and hiring ahead of its opening this fall. When it opens, the racino is expected to employ approximately 400, with 90% of the positions being filled by residents of the Mahoning Valley.
