Betters Enterprises Inc., the high bidder for RG Steel’s idled Warren mill with a cash purchase price of $16 for million, also offered $65 million for RG’s Steel’s Sparrows Point mill in Maryland. In that round of bidding, the Monaca, Pa.-based Betters fell short of a $72 million bid by a Missouri liquidation and land remediation company, Environmental Liability Transfer Inc., and its joint venture partner, Hilco Trading of Illinois.

Kohl's Project Gets Help from Development Authority
Monday, August 13, 2012SHARON, Pa. – The Mercer County Industrial Development Authority moved the Kohl's Project a step closer to breaking ground Friday by approving tax incremental financing, or TIF, for the first time in county history.
It will allow the Somerset Trust Co., Somerset, to issue tax-exempt 20-year bonds for $3.6 million through the industrial development authority, the proceeds of which will be spent on infrastructure to allow entrance to the 14-acre site at state Route 18 and U.S. 62 in Hermitage. The funds will also be used to build a storm water drainage system.

The elder Scotford retired.
Scotford Jr. is president of McBarscot Co., a commercial real estate management firm in Poland, Ohio. McBarscot has operated various businesses, including automobile dealerships and restaurants.
He is a graduate of Bucknell University and served in the Army as an infantry officer.
YSU to Offer Minor in Social Media Campaigns

This fall, Youngstown State University's communication Department of Communication will introduce a new minor course of study in social media campaigns.
The department, said chairman Adam Earnheardt, hopes to harness the energy and desire students have to understand these new communication platforms.
Cleveland Casino Takes Cut of Mountaineer Revenue

But revenues from table gaming at Mountaineer Racetrack, Casino & Resort here were down by $1.3 million, primarily as a result of increased competition from the new casino in Cleveland.
