Mahoning Valley Auto Sales Go in Reverse in 2012
Friday, January 11, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Sales of new cars and trucks in the Mahoning Valley decreased during 2012 compared to the previous year, as sales also slipped during the month of December, according to the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio's latest monthly report.
Dealers in Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties reported year-end sales of 23,760 new vehicles in 2012 compared to 24,651 sold during 2011, a decline of 3.6%.
For December, new vehicle sales were down 6.7%, as showrooms reported sales of 1,607 units compared to 1,723 the previous year.
200th Horizontal Well Drilled in Ohio’s Utica Shale Play
Friday, January 11, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The number of horizontal wells drilled in the Utica shale topped 200 last week, according to data released by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.
ODNR reports that 205 horizontal wells have been drilled in eastern Ohio since late 2010, when large energy interests started to step up oil and gas exploration in the Utica shale.
Of those wells drilled, 47 are producing, ODNR records show.

Taylor-Winfield Moves into Corporate Office Complex
Friday, January 11, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Taylor-Winfield Technologies, part of the Brilex Group of Companies, has relocated to its recently completed corporate office complex at 3200 Innovation Place, an addition connected to its plant there.
Construction on the 16,000-square-foot addition to the 100,000-square-foot plant began last spring and was completed on schedule with an occupancy date of Dec. 17. The addition was designed by David Paul Harris Architecture and built by Murphy Contracting.The project was financed by Cortland Banks.

Ohio Racing Panel Advances Track Relocation Rules
Friday, January 11, 2013YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Penn National Gaming Inc. could see its application to move its thoroughbred license from outside Columbus to Austintown approved in two months, a Penn National spokesman said.
The Ohio State Racing Commission in Columbus voted Thursday to submit revised track license relocation rules to the state's Joint Commission on Agency Rule Review, and the approval process should take about 30 days, said Penn National's Bob Tenenbaum.
